2 12w3 vs 1 12w7
This is just a matter of mere curiosity. I currently have 2 x 12w3v3 of which I am very satisfied. It did get me wondering though. Given proper amplification will 2 x 12w3v3's in a sealed box be as loud as 1 x 12W7v3. My curiosity lies in the xmax. the 12w3v3 has 13mm xmax whereas the 12w7 has 26mm xmax.

My vote goes to your current set-up with two subs as being louder and being able to be pushed further without break-up. Cone area and coupling effect rules. My buddy has two of those too, and they are louder than a single 13W7 on same 1000 watt power in spec'd enclosures.

If your looking to get more from the W3's, port them. You'd be wasting good money for nothing buying W7. W7 is nice, but I'm not thinking it can beat 2 - 12W3v3's. A ported 13W7 will get loud, but the extra cone area from the 2 W3's give them the upper edge.

a single 12W7 has twice the excursion and more surface area than a single 12W3 correct?
at full power handling i would think the W7 would be louder but Weman seems to have a different and actual experience.

I'm sure Weman would have better results if his W7 was ported.
