2 amp options for Type R sub, help me choose

need some more input. I am looking at Alpine MRV-T420 2 channel A/B type amp against MRP-M450 Mono they're same price used.
T420 pushes
340w RMS x 1 into 4ohm or
170w RMS x 2 into 2ohm

M450 pushes
220w RMS x 1 into 4ohm.

Also I was wondering about efficiency... I understand someone have mentioned before tha D-class amps are about 80% more efficient than A/B type. So would M450 be pushing the sub better with less power than the T420 with more power? Please help me understand this and choose the right one. I want to go see the seller tonight.

So which one of these would better suite my Type R sub (swr-1021D, DVC, 2 ohm) ?

if thats the only choices you have, Go for the 340 into 4 ohm.

What the efficency means is how much current it will draw from the battery for the rated power output.

With a DVC 2 ohm sub, both coils in series are 4 ohm. Both coils in parallel is 1 ohm.

d class amp i dont think are 80 more efficient, i think a/b amps range from like 30 percent to like 60 percent on a highly efficient one im not quite sure on the actual efficiency range, and d-class amplifiers can get as efficient as 90 percent in the case of the alpine pdx 1000.1

MRV-T420 sounds like a speaker amp which has less efficiency then a MRP-M450 monoblock
so although its rated higher it will lose more power before they get to subs
but id recomment to consider a different amp
older type r's push 300W RMS and peek at a 1000W and new type r's rms at 500W and peek at 1000W as well i believe. so depending which one you got you need 300/500W or you wouldnt be getting max out of the sub.

edit:if you got dual 2ohmsub you either need 1ohm or 4ohm amp depending if you connect coils in parallel or series.

the MRP-M450 is acctuly 400 rms at 2 ohms so if your subs is a dual voice coil u can wire it to a 2 ohm load and get 400 rms out of the MRP-M450 with i guess isnt bad for a type r sub ut the type r can handle alot more then that

eGor - i thought an amps output was given after the amps efficiency has been taken into account, so if a stereo brigable amp says its 450 rms then it will produce 450 and if a monoblock is 450 rms then the monoblock is 450 rms... the only difference is that the efficiency is higher no the monoblock and will require more current to produce the same power. the mrv t-420 will produce more power than the m 450 and should be louder but there will be more current draw and the chance of dimming lights at higher volumes is possible

thats the most rediculous thing ive ever heard how is the amp going to lose power before it gets to the sub? 1 class D watt is the same as 1 class a/b watt. Im not sure where you got this info but it is very wrong

No it won't do 1ohm, the only Alpine amps currently that will do a 1 ohm load are the new pdx series which deliver rated power into 1-4 ohms.
