2 amps to choose from - which should I pick?
So this is my set up:
- 2x Component speakers front - 80 watts RMS at 4 ohms each (160RMS for pair)
- 2x Coaxial speakers back - 55 watts RMS at 4 ohms (110RMS pair)
I'm trying to decide between two 4-channel amps to power these speakers:
-JVC KS-AX5104 - Class A/B.
• 70W x 4 into 4 ohms at 20 - 20,000Hz,
• 100W x 4 into 2 ohms at 20 - 20,000Hz ,
• 200W x 2 into 4 ohms at 20 - 20.000Hz Bridged
-Pioneer GM-D8604 - Class D
• 100 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms
• 150 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms
• 125 watts RMS x 4 at 1 ohm
• 300 watts RMS x 2 bridged at 4 ohms (250 watts RMS x 2 bridged at 2 ohms)
Buying the first amp would save me $200, but will it be sufficient for my setup? Is it worth going for the class D rather than A/B? The Pioneer amp has massively positive reviews, while the only review I could find of the JVC was on amazon at 3/5 stars. What do you guys recommend? Is it worth forking out an extra $200?

Gmd8604
I have had a few Pioneer G series amps and I can say that I have been much happier using Pioneer as opposed to JVC/Kenwood. The JVC might look like a better amp and if you'e short for cash it will do but if you have the money I would suggest going with the GMD and dialing down the gains to let that thing fly.

I don't see how the JVC would be any different in terms of performance as its supplying enough power to the speakers

well i think hes just saying the pioneer will put out cleaner power and easier aswell. now i use jvc/kenwood products all the time and i think their okay. i think you'd have a difficult time telling the difference between the amps just by sound.

I chose the right product for myself thanks to a detailed review. I think I should share it with everyone: http://speedfinal.com/car-amplifier/

I think you should go after paioneer. Because of it's most high performance and popularity. If you are looking for a detailed information about pioneer speaker, you can Visit Here
