2 ch amp with dual 2 ohm sub
 

I just got a 2 ch amp that runs 300 watts max rms at 2 ohm stable resistance. And a 10" Alpine Type S dual 2ohm sub that runs 500Watt rms with 900Watt Peak. so i was wondering if i wire the sub in parrallel or series? if anyone has knows wt i should do plz reply.

PS The amp is Axis3 and i got it for free without a manuel so if anyone has the same amp plz send me a copy.

you could series the coils to get a 4 ohm load bridged.
or you could run 1 coil per channel of the amp.
see which sounds better and which you want to keep.

im pretty sure the type s is only 300 rms
the type r's are 500rms

You're safer to series both coils and bridge the amp. You don't want to put stereo into 2 different coils. Anything different or opposite will create heat.

You also used max and rms in the same sentence. They are definately 2 different things. If that amp is 300 rms, it will work ok with a 500 rms sub, but won't really be loud enough for most of us. :)
If that amp is 300 max, use it as a paper weight. :sly:

I'll try running each coil to there own channel on the amp.

If you do that make sure you mono the input signal.

Why keep the signal in mono?

Like i said earlier, stereo on the 2 coils of the same sub is not a good thing. If any signal is out of phase on the 2 different coils, they'll be fighting each other. Guess where the power goes if it's not being converted into sound?
