Most companies will make a 4 ohm/200W RMS speaker and a 2ohm/200W RMS speaker that are almost identical in specs.
The 4 ohm will produce less distorion, but it will be barely noticeable.
Look at what impedance your amp makes its most power at. Buy speakers of those impedance.
Generally, 2 channel amps are 2 ohms each to two speakers.
4 channels amps can be bridged to 4 ohms each to two speakers, I'm using this set-up because I'm going for a sound quality system, and I want as little distortion as I can get.

At 2 Ohms, your system will be a little louder, and but will sound more strained at moderate levels.
If I HAD to; I'd do the top end in 4 Ohms, and the sub at 2 ohms (unless I had the coin to get a proper sub-amp ..,at 4 ohms)

Im kinda going for both spl and sq its just for in my work van I got a 1200.1 phoenixgold xenon so it will work with both I just have always wondered what the difference was and like the guy posted the specs on a 2 ohm and 4 ohm are pretty much the same so I just had to ask

i need to ask are you having 1 sub or 2
if one sub 2 or 4 is fine but if you have 2 subs then you will need a set of 2oms subs
so
i would say get a 2oms and if you think you need more bass then you do not need to sell your sub to get a set of 2oms subs. you will just need one mort sub ,and if you fine this in the same yr then it is not hard to find that sub also less $ in one hit but if you get 2 subs in one sell you mite payless

I fail to see how a 4 ohm driver will produce less distorion, be more musically accurate, or less strained in dynamic passages over a 2ohm sub......
buy the sub that will make your amp run at rated nominal load..... and if you find you are running into distortion or whatever, turn the gain down....

Keep in mind that when you drop the resistance, you're not JUST increasing power.
