Just wondering if anyone has ever done an install with a set of components (or coaxials) in the doors as well and ran a seperate set of tweeters in the pillar near ear height to raise the soundstage? I would like to use the rear output on my deck to do this (only have coaxials in the doors at the moment.) [img]graemlins/freak.gif[/img]

why would I need a kit for anything? All I want to do is have a set of tweeters running off my rear output...

You would be better off getting a kit which would include a cross over. I'm no expert but I think its safe to say that the tweeter wouldn't like running full range very much.

go for it!! lots of people on the pro circuit do this exact set up. but they always use amp power. i would (in your case) run a 3.3mf cap off each tweeter to filter out any highs also i would wire in a small light bulb to filter out any unwanted dc current. now i dont know if you have an amp for the front door spkrs but if you do remember its volume will drastically be affected by the quality of sound comming out of the tweeters!! thus the tweeter sound will limit the amps potential output!! due to the deck output distorting way befor the amp does. maybe go get a small cheap 4ch amp and use that and dont use deck power. just a thought

The cdt iek set I have includes the tweets and an L-pad attenuator so you can control the volume of the a-pilar tweets to help you blend it in better with the rest of your stage.

The cdt component xovers have separate terminals for the iek tweet, but is the same output as the main.

My set really helps to raise the soundstage, and volume.

cdt also has a fancier set with the xtra xover that highpasses the a-pilar tweets a little higher than the main. Suposed to be better. This is the set I hear competitors using.

I was originally using a 2 chan amp on my frontstage but decided to add a sub to my system so I bridged the amp to use it for the sub exclusively. So now i'm running the front's off the head unit. When I first got into the car after the install to listen to it I expected only head unit power to sound like ****e but to be honest I can't tell the difference at all. Mind you I never really did CRANK my speakers. But still at vol 30/50 on my jvc deck It's really loud and clear and I don't get any distortion till about 44-45 (I don't think i've ever listened to anything at above 40).

I was thinkin of goin for those for the tweets.. I can get em right now for 25 $ CAD. anyways it says
they feature a high-pass in-line crossover, so does that mean I just hook the rears to them and im good to go? no other x-over needed?

well, gave those new tweets a try.. man do they sound good. I'm quite surprised (wasn't expecting much from a pioneer speaker).

I'm thinking about doing the same thing(add extra tweets to my front co-ax)also to improve imaging and h.f output. The difference is that my co-axials are jbl power series 6.5s with their own two way x-o. I want to keep the tones the same, so I am thinking of adding the stand alone jbl 1" power series titanium component tweets. Anyone know if these will require a separate x-o, or is the passive caps that come with them good enough. Also I am thinking of running them parallel with the co-axs off my punch 8004; will this reduce S.Q, sice it will be a 2 ohm load?
