A guy we know has 2001 alero but can't seem to find the harness for the radio so he can put in his Clarion deck... not sure what store but they gave him one from a 2000 Alero and needless to say it was different. The gave him another one that matches up but when it's all hooked up he gets no sounds, now he's not sure if it's because it's the wrong harness or because he has the monsoon and for some reason it's not letting the sound goto the speakers wether it's from the monsoon amp not turning on or just won't allow it to bypass?? Does or have anyone had a 2001 or installed into a 2001 know if you just have to re-wire for the aftermarket deck or should you be able to just use a harness and it should work? As well if those have used 2001 Alero where did you find the correct harness or who would carry the correct harness for that year?

Thanks

That is a radio relocation one, if the factory deck is not plugged into the other end of the harness you will get no sound.

Other end of the harness? So essentially it forces you to buy the relocation harness then? He has all wires wired so... he has no problem with just running new wire to the speaker to get around it we where just looking to see if there was the easier way of just the harness without the 80$ price tag for it... or whatever amount stores charge...

Thanks Guys!

I always say, no one to blame but the people who support GM and there whacked out "engineering".

#1 The harness you need is the Metra 70-2003 or 70-2002 or Scosche GM-05
#2 You doesn't have to relocate the stock radio
#3 Do you have connected a 12V ACC wire to the HU
#4 Have you connected the power ON from the HU to the Monsoon amp

^^^Like I said it's a buddy's car so not sure how he wired up everything, now I know my cavalier has an amp in the bank for the speakers I didn't wire it up any special way just wired everything with the harness and it all worked.. I might be heading out there sometime so might have to check it out for him. I Know you don't need the relocation harness regardless of all the myths that may or may not happen... As for the harness anything 2001 and currrent I assume will work?

Hmm, everytime I did an Alero with the Monsoon system, no sound until the factory head unit was connected to the T harness.

MIKEONE 02-10-2005 04:28 PM

BYPASS THE AMP! you dont need a t harness, u have to source out ign at the fuse panel gm05 will do .u have to watch what the impedance of the spkrs are, 2 ohm?
