2003 hd 1500 crewcab adding sub...

Ok first off i don't want to replace the bose head unit. it is a 6pack cd with dvd rear roof screen wheel controls etc... I just want to add a 10 sub to this system just for some extra bass. not to rattle the body panels like the" kids" do...lol
what you be a good amp and sub to go with. Use to be an Alpine lover in the day till it got "used" by someone else when the car was stolen.
I have been looking @ the under seat option for the box... looking to spend around 500-600 installed :cheeky4::dunno:

Two ways to go about the system. One is to use a basic interface called a LOC. It is necessary as the go between from the factory system and the amplifier. The second and better route is a proper interface adaptor like the Audio Control LC6i. It will offer far superior performance to you in the long run. Of course it is going to eat into your budget.

I have the Pioneer Premiere shallow mount subs on sale now, grab them while you can as they are a great sub and ideally suited to this application. I have a couple of amps in mind right now and will choose one depending on which way you head with the first item, the LOC or the interface. You don't need a boatload of power, just enough to compliment the factory system.

The box is going to be the interesting part here... options are to build one, have one built or go the basic prefab route and hope for the best. Remembering this vehicle, there is not a boatload of room under the backseat at all, as such I highly doubt that there is a prefab box for it. This means a custom build and the price tag associated to it.

Finally the last option, be it just outside of your price range but the best option is the MTX Thunderform. It is ideally suited in this application. It offers perfect fit, high impact color matched plastic, 10" sub and built in amplifier. This new generation amp includes a built in LOC and comes with a dash mountable level control as well. This again is going to be by far your best option. I just got home from work at the pub, I will find a price on this model for you this afternoon and PM it to you. I have used this thunderform before and like 99% of them, they will deliver the performance that you are seeking. It is a easy self install if you want to tackle it as well. (matter of fact comes with great instructions and wiring as well).
