2006 Chevy 1500

I just bought a 2006 Chevy 1500 and im looking to install my alpine deck into it.
My first question is, is there any thing out there that will allow me to keep and use my steering wheel controls? i remember something for a grand prix years ago but still wondering if there is something now adays?

As for my subs im going to build a sub box under the rear seat but wasn't sure how to set it up, ive seen people install the subs so they face the floor as well some face towards the front and others are installed enclosed in the box, Any ideas?

Yes there are steering wheel interfaces available now, the question is how and if it can interface into your alpine cd player. If you want to keep the sub box rather simple then look at a shallow mount type of sub. With the limited space under the seat, shallow mount type subs are ideal in this situation. While they are not going to rip your ears off with bass response, they are more than ample to keep up with a respectable system and provide more than enough bass response for most people.

theres a modual that will run that deck with that truck for stearing control.. but you also have to think about the GMCO or other similar products to keep your truck in proper working order. AND this will also give you the ACC that GM just dont have anymore, and also will retain your chimes for low fuel... airbags, check engine doors and blah blah blah, and that runs from 129 to 189 depending if you have onstar and stuff like that

steering weel control unit is about 80$ to 100$ depending where you find it.. GMCO will be from 129 to 149 also depends where you get it. then you will need a antena adapter and a dash kit... check your surrounding shops for them and you will find it.. if not try future shop ... i suggest getting the steering control installed cause some vehicles can be tricky to do.. ( ITS NOT JUST A PLUG AND PLAY ) its a harness and you have use the right wire(s) taped into the right wire under the dash or if lucky behind the radio

You have any idea how many mechanics' wiring jobs are the causes of vehicle fires? I'm not putting you down in any way, but my experience as an installer for 8 years is that whenever a "mechanic" wired anything in a vehicle..I always double check it and 90% of the time the wiring has some dangerous about it. (Shitty crimp connection. No solder and electrical tape in the engine bay that after 2 weeks is allready unraveling. wiring run over top of a valve cover with no loom with a crimp connection joint midway down the wire for no apparent reason.

you reminded me of alot of nightmare jobs.

If you make any connections yourself. please run all the wiring safely. Your wiring should not be spagetti and just crammed in with the radio

Lol dont worry Sikk my wiring jobs are a little Different, i may be a heavy duty mechanic but i also work on cattle trailers that run in canada so which means our connections have to be water proof and hidden away with loom so the wires dont rub throu.
