2010 ford f150 supercrew

Hi folks,

I hate the factory speakers in my truck and wouldn't sell it on ebay to my worst enemy. I listen to a lot of dance/trance with a lot of bass and highs. I am looking to replace 4 speakers in the doors, install an amp, and add 2 subs (no 12" monsters) just something to make it sound of quality not quantity. I am a complete audiophile, so you can understand my need to get rid of this factory terrorism. Any suggestions on a reputable Ottawa area dealer to work with???. I'm not interested in chain store garbage like FS and Best Buy.. Thanks in advance! I like to listen to my music at the loudest the system will handle and any advice on door panel rattling etc would also be appreciated.

Cheers!
Joe

If you are interested with working with me I can assure you of a highly predictable outcome. I may not be in your area but I can most certainly make sure that your system will deliver the results you need.

Drive to QC and check out Central Station Customs

I would check out Shamus Customs down on Hwy 31 just past Greely...

Also, don't discount a chain store. The best installer in the city (imho) works at the FS in South Keys... if you stop by ask to talk to Shon.

I know people have a dislik for chains but Shon has been installing for a longass time and used to own Daskwerks if that means anything to you.. he just got tired of the BS that goes along with owning your own place and has decided to just stay at FS and do a bit of side-work if the chance presents itself. :smilie_da

I also have the supercre (2009). I will tell you right now - NOT THE BESt TRUCK FOR AFTER_MARKET (should have bought a Dodge!!).

Anyways - here are some tips!

1. Factory speaker location is terrible, so I recomend you install the tweeters up in the A-Pillar.

2. There is not a lot of airspace behind the seats so make sure yo find amps with a small footprint and that won't run too hot. Also, beware of reinstalling the sound deadener - you will need to cut around the amps, but try not to cut in front of the fresh air recirculator vents as this will increase travel noise a lot (the very quiet ford becomes not as quiet).

3. There is actually a lot of room for sub box under the seats, but not a lot of depth (I have a box under the 60 portion of the 60/40 split with 2 JL 8w3). If I could do it again - I would install 4 8inch subs, or just bite the bullet and install the JL 13 inch flat sub with the customer box for this truck...

Hope this helps.

And get his @$$ canned in the process? They have policies against this...

OP, Jordy O is right about the installers in the big box stores. I can see not wanting the politics involved in shopping for product there, and the lack of quality, but as he mentioned, don't count out the installers. I know the owner of a certain rex that is a top notch installer and competitor, among other respectable traits, and he works for a big box store. Grab some gear from MR2NR and use Jordy's contact for your install, you'll be in good hands. These guys wouldn't make the suggestions they have without reason.....

I would agree, no side job is ever worth the $ in your pocket that a full time job is worth.

those are simple vehicle to make sound good if proper install and application guidlines are adhered to. There are a very wide vehicle so good sound from both seats is very difficult. i agree with the others that you should check out your local stores and find an installer with integrity, ask to see pictures or even better, vehicles that hes built. if niether of these is present, go elsewhere. As well if he doesnt have an rta walk as well, this is a very important tool in achieving good sound in a vehicle, i say this only becuase you say you have descecrning tastes when it come to what you like and this will be an indispensable tool when tuning your truck for the sound "you" want.

Meh... it's up to Shon to decide if that's what he wants to do. I'm not FS management so I don't care what he does in his spare time.

Even with that... his work is incredible and he pulls in a LOT of business even during regular working hours so I can see them turning a blind eye. ;)
