say i had a 1000watt/rms amp. would it be better to run 3 400rms subs, or 1 1000rms sub? any advantages/disadvantages to either?

Deoends on the space you have, but you would have 3 times the cone area and equal power so three will be louder then one in most cases

more precise bass hits too from what I've been told

oh..i have the trunk space alright....its a 96 buick regal. it has the biggest trunk i have seen so far on any car, but i dont get around too much either but its pretty freakin big. will the bass be precise enoguh for me to notice it? i know it would be a little louder...but besides that there isnt much difference? do you think that 3 12"s running 330 to each sub would pound more than a single 12 with 1000rms going to it thoguh? i mainly listen to rap, reggae, techno and hiphop.

It really depends on the subs, but it should be considerably louder.

i was thinking 3 audiobahn flame q's or compression pistons. i am actually gonna run my jbl 1200.1 and it claims a little more power like 1300 but am i right to say its not good to run the amp to its absolute potential constantly? any ideas on subs? i was also thinking kicker of some sort...but thats if i get enoguh funds...

A single 12/15" driver in the correct enclosure that can handle 1300rms will likely give you all the bass you could want in a daily driven application.

I would rather have one high-end driver than 3 average drivers.

i'd say do the 3... it's more than lickely louder and when people see 3, instead of 1, they look more impressed! lol..

livin loud

alright sounds good guys...i am going to go with the three 12"s but the question still remains about which ones. like i said before, flame q's or compression pistions both by audiobahn is what i was personally looking at, but what do you guys think? i just want an intense system that POUNDS like a phucker but dont get me wrong, the mids and highs have already been covered.

just go with what you personally like, aesthetically and from what you have (hopefully) learned from here. Really, you should be pretty happy going from having nothing to either one 'good' sub or 3 'average' subs.

with that sort of power, I would be thinking maybe something a bit more high end than the audiobahn's personally, perhaps something off the for sale forum?
