6x8 or 6.5 with adapters

haven`t posted on this site in a while. I have an 09 f350 and i want to upgrade my door speakers but still use my factory HU. I have a pair of cdt 6.5" components that are new in the box and thought about installing them in the doors with adapters, or sell them and get a pair of 6x8`s. I really don`t plan on doing a big install on my truck in the future since i`m moving out of car audio again and selling all my existing gear, so i`m looking to improve the quality from that muddy stock sound.

mostly i`m not concerned with bass but want something really bright. now to be honest i don`t even feel like mounting tweeters because my truck is new and don`t feel like making holes so i`m leaning towards a pair of Infinity Reference 6832cf (since i was told they have screamin highs).

or is it worth it to install the cdt`s? which will be alot more work than a 6x8?

thanks in advance.

If you make a plate will there be enough room to mount the tweeter directly above the 6.5?

^^^ agree. dont by them. they dont fit well. i had a big gap in mine. I have an explorer and i put 6" alpines and the plate was crap. I made a small baffle out of plywood and painted it black. now they sound a lot better.

I would go with a good set of 6x8" speakers but not the scratchy screechy Infinity ones. If you have a budget and want a good set of speakers, I will find you some.

yeah, i think thats the route i`m gonna take (sell my cdt`s) since i just don`t have the time to fab a pair of adapters.

let me know what you have but keep in mind that i like my high`s very bright!

I'd listen to the Infinitys. If you like your highs bright then they are a good choice.

Go with the infinitys. I have them in my focus.

They have the ability to swivel the tweeter towards your head and the ability to boost the tweeter +3dB.

They sound pretty good by default, but are even better with an outboard amp.
