6x8s or 6" in the doors or a 2006 fusion

what would be better for me... a pair of 6x8s or 6" in the doors of my fusion, I will be giving them about 50-75watts rms to them... what will be better? and also... what should I get? I have about 200 including tax... I am in the montreal area...also, if you guys say 6 inch.. do they sell the adapter kits or do I just make one out of some wood? I would think that 6x8s will be better since there is more cone area.... but what do I know???

Wood = bad idea unless you are going to resin them otherwise the moisture buildup is going to destroy them. With a adaptor plate you can fit a 6.75" mid in that area and the tweeter elsewhere if it is a component or a 6.5" pointsource type of speaker. Nothing wrong with going that way but a good coax 6x8" or a 5x7" pointsource would more than likely do the job just fine. As a plus if you want to upgrade in the future, you move them to the back and go to some great component speakers up front.

are the infinity's any good at future shop? and also.. what is a "GOOD" type to buy... gonna be this weekend or next....... and Oh Donald.. if your reading this... the bass will come soon man... I didn't forget you... lol

Pass on the scratchy sounding Infinity speakers from me.....

Infinity's are horrible.

than what is good? Pioneers? alpines? Kenwoods? JLs? that what I can get close by... and Rob.... I am thinking about yours too... how about some 6.5s......can a good set be bought for 200 tax in?and where can I ge the adapter plate? but I guess 6x8s will be easiest

MR2NR 03-19-2009 06:35 PM

I can supply you the adaptor plate and the 6.5" speakers but a good pointsource 5x7" is going to be all that you need, I am more than happy with mine.

thanks guys
I got the premier 6x8s locally for 125$ with 70w rms going into them... to me it sounds sweet.... but after having tweeters up high for soooo long.. its hard to get used to the sound being so low now..

MR2NR 03-21-2009 04:53 PM

This is part of the reason why I recommended the pointsource. It would have allowed you to put the tweeter up high......
