If you put damping material inside the door make sure you left the drain holes open at the bottom of the door. Once you are sure the door has no water in there, run the heater on high with the door panels removed to get them fully dry. Use a hairdryer too if necessary. Once they are dry you should have no more issues with water for the rest of the winter.

Yep, I took great care making sure that none of the drain holes were blocked when I installed the B-Quiet. I can give the hair dryer a go, just to make sure it is fully dry inside the door.

Thanks,
Brad

Interesting.

I'd have thought the heat of the motors trying to move the stuck coil would be enough to melt it enough for the speaker to move. Does raising the volume ever bring them back to life?

Leave the mid in the car for night (somewhere you can get at it) and go out and poke the surround with your finger. See if it's rock solid or if it's soft the way it should be.

This will give you your answer.

When it first started happening the drivers side was all distorted and the passenger side didn't work. I initially turned it up a bit to see if the passenger side was just quiet and it started kicking in and out and then started working again.

I already did that the first time I removed it. After it "thawed" inside the house, I took one back outside and it froze solid again.

Since then I have really tried to dry the speakers out completely and will be re-installing them tomorrow. (works getting in the way)

Thanks,
Brad

get an ice cream pail
fill it up half way with rice
put a plate on top of the rice
put your speaker on the plate
put lid on ice cream pail
leave overnight.

Having the speaker sit inside your house overnight won't necessarily mean the water is out of it, but if you do the above, the rice will literally suck the water out of the speaker.
