Advice on running an 8 speaker system w/sub...

Hey guys, I'm new to the car audio thing & have a question;

I'm wanting to run a 9 speaker system in my van (8 speaks & a sub) & was wondering, is it possible to run 4 of the speaker & the sub on a 5 channel amp & then run the remaining 4speakers from the HU's 4 channels? Or does installing an amp eliminate the HU's 4 channels?

My van came stock with a lousy HU & 6 speaker set up (karaoke machine too. For real!). I've recently replaced the HU & all 6 speakers, but bought another set of speaks to help fill out the sound, because it's such a huge space to fill. Nothing fancy, just a run of the mill Kenwood deck with JBL GTO's all around. I'm also planning on adding a sub.

I'd like to avoid running multiple amps if possible & I'm not looking to win any comps, I just want something that sounds decent. I'm pretty happy with how it sounds now, but I know I'll be happier with the extra set & a sub!

Is there a better/easier way to do this, or is there something else you'd recommend doing?

In case you need more info, here's the HU & speakers that are in there now;

HU is a Kenwood KDC-MP345U

Rear Speakers-2x JBL GTO928 6x9's (100w rms)
Mid Speakers-2x JBL GTO528 5.25's (45w rms)
Front Door Speakers-2x JBL GTO528 5.25's (45w rms)
Front Dash Speakers-2x JBL GTO329 3.5's (25w rms)

For a sub, I've got a line on an Alpine SWR-1040D for a smoking deal, & for amps I was looking at a used Alpine MRV-F450 (50w rms x4, 200w rms x1) or the PDX-5 (75w rms x4, 300w rms x1)

Thanks in advance guys, any help you could give would be really appreciated!

Yes you can use an amp and the built in power at the same time
