Advice on sale from futureshop?

Hello,

I'm new here at the forums but I look forward to learning about car audio. So I was looking on the web and I saw this deal for a sub from futureshop (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=bdl10001619&catid=11051&logo n=&langid=EN)

Anyways its a Rockford Fosgate P110S4 Punch 10" with a Bassworx 10" Hatchback Sealed Subwoofer Box. I was wondering if at $89.99 this was a good buy? The amp I have right now (not installed) is an Alpine FLEX4 Amp MRP-F256. Also if anybody could give me some specs on that amp it would be great.

Any advice is more than appreciated.:)

Thanks!
(I dont know much about car audio so keep it simple :dunno: lol)

Me 2 saw it 2day and I think it worth it if u buy 2 of them, read the review of others. Is a good deal, the speaker itself costs 99$ and with box is 89$

If you liek base model stuff like that, then yes.

I was just wondering if its a good price for the product. I dont really have too much to spend thats why I was asking. Thanks though.

It doesnt matter really what sub or box it was, 90 bucks is a damn fine deal dude.

Its a great deal, to bad your amp is a 4 channel and the sub is only SVC. You will only be able to send half of your amps power to the subwoofer, so 75watts.

Hey thanks for the pointers...So I have been thinking and since I may want to move these to my new car in the summer, I am probably going to get 2 Rockford Fosgate Punch 12" Car Subwoofer (P112S4).

Now I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the comparision betwee 2 10's vs. a single 12. How noticeable is the difference. I'm pretty sure that the 2 12's will be game enough though.

Any suggestions on what amp to pair with these subs?

Many thanks :)

p.s. if anyone could direct me to some basic articles on amps and car audio in general that would be much appreciated.

It all depends on the speakers. Assuming you're comparing the same type of subs, i.e. 2 10in. type S's vs. 2 12in. type S's. Same magnets, same power, more cone. Bigger will move more air, you should be able to "feel" the bass more with bigger subs.

However, power handling and install is major factors too. My single 12, wired for competition at 1 ohm and getting 2400 watts, beats guys with much more equipment. In Castlegar a few months ago I beat a guy with four 12's in a Bronco. The guy that beat me in Kelowna, had to do it with two APX 18's in a Blazer (ya, SS 1-2 NW is a really wide division).

My single 12, has so much output, even wired at 2 ohms in my daily setup, it blows the mind. People expect two 15's in there, but I open up the doors and there's just the one 12.

Mind you, it IS a high-priced, "super" sub, not any of these Future Shop kindsa things. So... if you have a big budget, get a super sub. If you don't, then get whatever you're comfortable with for trunk space. Two 12's and a box for such will take up a helluva lot more room than two 10's.
