ai net and rca

Quick question for those that know. If I am using the ainet with a pxa-h701, does the head unit's rca outs still function? In other words can I use the rear rca outs from the deck in addition to the pxa's outs. I'd like to keep my rear fill, and have a 3way( tweet, mid, bass) up front using the rear pxa outs as the front bass band pass. Set up would be; center front channel, front tweet, mid, bass, rear fill, subwoofer. As you see it's 10 channels, and the pxa has 8 channels. I know I can do it if I use the rca inputs from the pxa, but I'd like to retain the ai-net advantages. Thanks in advance.

p.s does not mention anything about it in the head unit's manual or the pxa's.

yes you can. the 701 just expands the front channel. secondly rear fill is for losers. no one records in 4 channel stereo. when you listen to recorded music there is no mic behind the musician. rear fill is for grandpa in the back. or rear fill is for surround sound theatre.not sure they make those units anymore

rear fill are for parents with kids or ppl with frds. and its called TURNING OFF the rear fill when u are alone. the only looser is the guy with frds and no rear fill to give music to theyre frds and familly and only gives out bass boooooo u suck. if im sitting in the rear i would like to hear something u know..

i use only front stage and substage when im alone or with a front passenger. but i do have rear fill for when i have MY frds OR kids in the van

so dont bash on ppl just because they want some rear fill when they need it. and im sure that the OP only want rear fill for that purpose PASSENGERS

Mostly useless response! I didn't ask for your opinion on what sounds good or how to set up my system. As for your answer, are you sure that's with the ainet hooked up and the head unit in eq/div mode? I'm aware of the rca input option but prefer to keep my volume control from the head unit. If you are sure of this then I'll ignore your other subjective comment and say thanks for the part I asked about.

correct! Plus i like rear fill. Only been doing this for 20+ years now, so i know what i like. Besides, just a simple question that i hoped an installer would know the answer, otherwise i'll have to fiddle around in the cold to find out. I figured somebody would start with the rear fill bs...didn't take long.

I think once the H701 is plugged in thats it, you get the outputs from there.
I could be wrong, its been a while since i used my h701.
something you could try would be to use the rear deck power outputs for rear fill.
if its only for fill, you wont need a lot of power, or eq'ing

I assumed that as well. The deck's amp was one option, as was the rca input route which has a few other benefits but renders the head's volume control unusable, and may have other issues with the ipod controls. However, i think i've solved my problem. I'm going to use the passive crossovers from the component set for the mid/tweet combo, but actively send from 600hz up to the amp via the pxa. This will give me t/a, eq ,etc.. From the pxa, and since the mid/tweet will only be about an inch apart, the t/a should be well within acceptable parameters for my purposes. This will then allow me to use all the features of the pxa, and have almost full control of the system. Thanks for the info though.

Although I find your tone offensive, the funniest part is this is from a member with the name "surround sound"...

Um, you need rears for surround there chachi.. :urat00l:

^^I was going to comment on that too...but why bother. Anyone who starts off by claiming someone is a loser because of something as trivial as rear fill really needs no acknowledgement, in fact I should have just ignored his post altogether. By the way Dukk, you probably know the answer to my initial question. I'm still curious whether the rca outs are functional when the ainet is used for the pxa, even though I've solved my problem now.

If you read his post you would see that he mentioned rear fill is for surround sound.
