Red face

The original Alpine CD changer on my 91 Legend L sedan (non Bose stereo) died so I got hold of an Alpine CHM-S601 off eBay to replace it. I'd heard that this model was supposed to be compatible with the factory stereo yet when I attached it to the existing connector in the trunk the changer cycles through all 6 discs in the magazine (loading the first, immediatley unloading it, loading the next one, etc.) and then stops and displays disc 0:00. Has anyone else out there had this sort of problem with an Alpine changer? I've read that an M series changer needs an adaptor to run properly with the factory Acura stereo. Is this the case or have I bought a dud changer? Any help with this matter would be most appreciated. Thanks.

It needs the adaptor just to redo the signal wires, you can redo them yourself though. It sounds like a dud changer.

Any "M" series changer will work.
