Alpine CDA9833...Sub Advice

Hello,

I am new to the forums.
Seems like a great place

I have an Alpine CDA9833 and i would like to buy a Bazooka BTA6100.
I have a budget and VERY little space. I dont need Dance Club Bass, just some good bass to compliment the highs and mids.

Is this product
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-38fQUXmZLm2/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=51000&i=204BTA6100&c=3&tp=114]Bazooka BTA6100 BT Series 100-watt powered 6-1/2" Bass Tube at Crutchfield.com
a good fit with my Head Unit. Are they compatible? Will i be able to contol all aspects of the TUbe with my Head Unit?

thanks for any help

Not good if plan on running the tube with the deck and no amp, the deck puts out maybe 18 watts....you wont hear the tube if its in the trunk.... and besides the tube is 2-Ohm, this wont work without an amp....

The BTA6100 Bass Tube comes with a 6-1/2" woofer, a built-in amp (100 watts max power), and installation parts including a power/signal harness (15" power and ground wires, 10" turn on and speaker input leads, RCA inputs, and auto turn-on jumper), 7.5-amp fuse with holder, power rings, and mounting hardware

I have that deck...nice deck by the way...tons o' features! It will work well with the bazooka (they're actually quite nice sounding and very convenient IMHO...had a few of them over the years, and I liked them). Just hook up your pre amp sub woofer rca cables from your 9833 to the bazooka's amp input and it's just like any other amp/sub combo. All the features... bass engine, x-overs, eq, mexia xpander, etc... will work the same way. the only possible problem may be the internal x over on the bazooka amp...if you can disable it by switching it off, that would be great, as you can then use the Alpine for everything.

Thanks for the reply.
Excuse my lack of knowledge but i am unclear about the possible problem that you mention about the internal x over on the Sub. What exactly will i not be able to control from my Head Unit?
I would like to have total control over the sub via my Head Unit.
Thanks for your patience

after checking the specs on the bazooka, I noticed that it has a fixed 18db/octave crossover set at 85hz. It does not appear to be defeatable, therefore do not use the x over in the Alpine for the subwoofer, since there is already one in the bazooka. All other features will work as usual though...level control, equalizer etc...

Is there a way to "turn off" the sub crossover on the Head Unit.
Mine is set up as follows:

High X over affects the front speakers only
Mid X over affects the rear speakers only
Low X over affects the Sub only

I do not see an option to "turn off" any of the three X overs.

thanks

on the low xover(sub) set the slope to flat(0 dB) which is the same as off. Should be on page 16 of your manual.

if i understand correctly, it would be ideal if i get a mono amp(without a built in x over) to power a sub in a box . this way i would have total control from my Head Unit?

is this assumption accurate?
