If they are the old ones, they were overpriced and sounded mediocre at best. I wouldn't buy them period, because you can do a lot better for what people probably want for them. If I had to put a price on em, $80 or so.

Details, umm they had neo magnets making them quite pricey for what they were. The F17A's were the first generation I think, if I'm remebering them right they had a horrid tweeter, decent midrange. The F17C's sounded a lot better, but still not great IMO.

I never liked the sound of the DDDrive series drivers. I used to sell them and I would avoid them.

With a different tweeter they could probably be "ok". I agree with the $80

hmm... i can get em for $40. right now I have NO tweets up front, so its really weak right now. I dont want to spend too much money right now. I have to spend my money on some other NEEDs for my truck first, so I was thinking these would do me ok untill I got some better funds...

So is that a good price for them?

Thanks guys

DDC-F17A

50wrms power
35Hz-32kHz response
90dB/W/M
Dualgap voicecoil
Injection molded magnet
Hybrid Mica PP Injection cone
Silk dome tweeter
Aluminum diecast frame
Natural rubber surround

Anyways, that's the specs but as far as personal opinion I agree with everyone else who's posted; not the best sounding comp set and overly priced when new (not that it matters now though). Hard to go wrong with a $40 comp set and for $40 it's hard to be picky IMO.

You could find a better sounding set for $100 on Ebay likely but if these are in good condition thay may be your best bet if you're on a budget.

Thanks HW. Yes, im not sure how you could go wrong for $40, and on a buget im sure they would sound better then any other comps for that price. not to mention they should be better then what I got up front right now.

thanks guys,
Dallas

I found that the DDDrive series speakers sounded VERY nasal. The biggest innovation in the DDDrive series is an Injection Form Magnet.
If you use a different x/o they sound OK, but with the supplied X/O they get a thumbs down from me. As for the $80, altho I agree, I'd say look for something else, because you will want to change them soon. $40 isn't much of a loss, and at that point may be worthwhile to look into a better X/O .

I agree - I think the midrange is an alright driver, just handicapped by the rest of the set. $40 is an alright price for some decent midrange so if that is all that is kept then it's still an ok deal.

These are the best components ever prouduced IMHO.
I own 2 sets of the DDCF7-A's, 1 DDC-F17C, 1-DDC-F17B & 1 DDC-R17H.
They all sound phenominal!
