Hey, I have an Alpine 9835. I am running my old Rockford four channel, 400x4. The max deck volume is 35. I noticed today, I turned it up to 25, after that it stopped getting louder, from 25-35. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but does this mean that I can turn up the gains a bit? The gain on the front stage is at a very minimum level, and the sub gain is about half. Thanks!

Well its probly just maxing out you amps too soon and it will not get any louder. You may need to turn the gains down even in order to crank the volume up to 35. another thing you could do is hold the menu button down and go to the crossover screen. select the front/rear/sub and turn the knob to the left a few noches. (i think i have mine at like -4db)

Right, so cut the crossover output on the deck to my fronts maybe. I am not too concerned, as it gets pretty loud, just was curious as to why this was happening.

Leave the HU pre-out levels at "0" and turn the amp gains down.

Hey Ross, to get max volume you need to drop the front and rear levels to @ -3 or more. Leave the sub at 0.

If your running your amp to run front and rear speakers turn the Power IC off. It should increase SQ as I have been told. I haven't tried it since I am using the V-Drive myself on my 9835.

Thanks guys, I have turned off the power IC, thanks Joe. So cut the crossover output levels, and then adjust the gains from there?

turn the gains to minimum, using your reference music that has a very hot recording level, aka the one that seems louder than the others, turn your cd player to 30, turn sub preout level to 10 or 11. make sure power ic is off if you arent using it, the sq gains are minimal at best, but if you arent using it turn it off, now asjust your gains accordingly to the loudest you would ever listen to it, it the speakers start to unload, try adjusting x-overs to fix it, if that doesnt work, turn it down

How do you turn it off?

seahag, have you boosted any low frequencies on your user EQ? Ie, 50hz +6db...
If so, turn down any bass boost and you should hear your volume come up.
