:( alpine head unit not giving me CD
#2
Happened to me with my stock deck, what I found out was that my motor within the deck itself was broken. I was able to take it out with some very small pliers, as I need the CD (didn't care much for the deck, it was a POS anyway).
That is most likely the cause of your problem or you may have fried the "brain" of your deck, which in that case is why your tuner isn't working as well...

I had the same problems last weekend, up all night building a box, got the carpet on, put a cd in and ken-wouldn't play it... spent the next hour getting the deck out, taking the cover off, cleaning the opening with alcohol, electronics spray, its been a week since and its still working like a charm. I almost tried to put in a CD that didn't feel like it wanted to go in, instead I pulled it out and noticed that it was in really rough shape. The can't find it, grind it rule should not be applied to your headunit. As far as the Alpine, maybe its time was up, how old was it? I
