Alpine HU settings
I just acquired an Alpine CDA-9855 and trying to get it to sound properly, therefore had a question about the settings.
I was playing around with the settings and basically at some point I noticed that volume doesn't get any louder after about 22 up to 35. Then I was playing some more and at one point I had the volume go up properly right up to 35 and it was just like I wanted. I was making so many changes that I don't even know what setting on the deck effects the volume levels like this. Can someone tell me what it could be? |
Yeah These decks are ridiculous with all the settings. I have the CDA-9853 and I can't seem to figure mine out either. I think I may go to a car audio store and pay the dude $20 or something to come out and "Show me the Ropes"
|
reset to factory defaults and my stereo suddenly came alive. Sound is balanced and defined and powerful, subwoofer finally is shaking the out of my car. I think I played with it too much prior to that. :smokin:

the important part is the crossover settings, it has to be set to match your speaker/amp type of setup.
Then the time alignment. then you can play with eq all you like. Its a real pain doing all that from the front panel. Get an extra pack of smokes and a pot of coffee, bring your manual and a magnifying glass. Then do it all over again every time you have to disconnect power and it goes back to default. I set my basic setting on the alpine website, i-personalize. Saved MP3 to CD. That way, every time the car gets serviced or whatever, just pop in the CD, download, and there you're back to normal. |

This thing rocks! I love this deck! It's awesome! I am not sure why so many people are saying bad thing about the glidetouch. It's pretty cool actually. I got used to it quickly. Was reading some reviews where someone stated that they couldn't get used to glidetouch after 2 years of ownership. |
On my old 9813 the MediaXpander jumped up the volume quite a bit. It was supposed to re-incorporate lost settings of MP3 files that are lost during the compression process but in reality I think it was just a hyped up loudness button. :)
|
yup, the MX is a hyped up loudness. But, it has 3 levels settings. Much better when i went down to 1.
The glidetouch was a lot easyer to use in the Store display than it is at 120kmph. |
well I think you shouldn't be playing with your stereo too much while you're on the highway anyway :) safer that way

what about the frequency settings on the treble and bass..never really understood those and how to obtimize those
i have a full 4 ch speaker and then sub set up how should i match all those to work/sound the best |

i have a full 4 ch speaker and then sub set up how should i match all those to work/sound the best It depends on how your speakers and amps work together. On mine, I've found that setting the treble to 12.5khz at a setting of + 3 sounds the best. But a different car with different amps and speakers could be a totally different story. For the most part I keep my bass at 0, but some songs I might boost it up to +3 - then depending on the song, I might want it @ 60hz, or 80hz. Personally I rarely like the sound of boosting 100hz or 120hz. The bass also has the cool feature of selecting how wide or narrow of a frequency range to set. My preference typically is narrow - setting 1 or 2. In the end, it is all about your taste, and how things sound in your set-up. Use your ears. |
A different Alpine question, but somewhat related to the original thread:
I have a 9845, with a front stage amp and a sub amp. Internal HU amp is Off I noticed that around the volume of 23-26, the deck alters my bass treble settings. If I have the treble set at +3, as I go past volume 25, I can hear that the processor is diminishing the increased treble settings that I have programed in - even though the settings on the screen stay the same. (It acts the same was as a factory stereo in my dads 95 Ford winstar - after a certain level it would ignore the bass treble settings to prevent distortion). Is this common for Alpine HUs? It is not the amp, because it does this with my amp gains all the way down and with my gains 3/4 of the way up - always at the same volume. I talked with a salesmen where I bought it and he couldn't explain it. Any thoughts, suggestions? |
Try calling Alpine tech support. Those guys are very helpful and will try their best to answer your question.
|
Seriously, you guys are going to spend that much on a deck and not read the freaking manual...It's there for a reason, especially with a high tech piece of equipment like any of those decks. I have a 9833 and a pxa-h701 with the rux controller and I can adjust anything on the fly if I need to...on both units! it's not that hard.
|
i never said it was hard...i was just trying to get an understanding of what i was even changing
but thanks for coming out |
I say it's hard. Better yet it's ****in retarded.
And For the record, Not all people bought their decks brand new. Some may have came with the used car they purchased or some may have Purchased the deck used. Either way not everyone has got the Manual to read an learn about. Some people are stranded to figure these things out one step at a time and we come on these "Car audio forums" for advice not to have some douche bag tell us to "Read the Manual." So on that note, GO **** YOURSELF. |
some people not meaning all should stick to factory decks,or perhaps a koss decks with a one page manual lol:smilie_da
im sorry but if you cant figure it out on youre own ,im suprised you found a nipple and survived youre first 6 months of life:dunno: |
and im in no way an affiliate of cca,im just here, banned once a month, and im due, thank you im here all night
haha:smokin: |

On the other hand at some point after I reset the deck to factory settings I was able to crank the volume as high as it would go with steady linear volume increase. But then later for some reason it kinda goes back to the original state. It's a mystery. :dunno: |

PM sent. Thanks!!!

I should have a paper manual kicking around plus a few spare parts. The main unit is toast due to water damage but the Faceplate, remote and wire harness are all good.
