Alpine IVA-W200 Bluetooth questions (blue tooth headset q's as well)

Hey folks,

Picked up the IVA-W200 a bit back. Very interested in the bluetooth module when it comes out as it seems to do lots of interesting things from what i've found out.

One question, will alpine's bluetooth module have a microphone so that i can just kinda talk at my dash (or wherever the unit is mounted) and listen thru my stereo speakers??? (Alpine website doesn't explain much as it isn't technically out, and i dunno enough about how phones work with head units or especially how this blue tooth stuff works.

Depending on if that option works (not that i talk on my phone much while driving...personally don't like it, more so just can't hear the phone when i'm driving...plus it'd be safer to just be talking then holding a phone), and probably even just for around the house, i'm thinkin of picking up a bluetooth headset/earpiece for my phone. Does anyone else use any of these? Had better luck or heard good or bad things about any of them??

I'd assume anything bluetooth should be compatible with the phone, and was kinda lookin at the two plantronics headsets (links below) and currenlty am confused as to the difference between them. Apart from that I have no idea what else is out there or who makes headset's and or if they're any good.

My main reason for this headset, would be that i have no landline, just a cell, and you can't really hold a cell on your shoulder like you can a normal phone, so the earpiece/headset seems smart!!!

yes, that module will allow the w200 to ack as a complete hands free system. you can leave the phone in your pocket and answer all the calls you like.

Yes it will come with a microphone so it will be hands free.... I can't wait till other companies jump on the Bluetooth wagon....

Bluetooth Q's

My $.02 worth.....

Kenwood is coming out with BT enabled decks this year as well. They come with a mic you mount somewhere near your mouth while you're driving (over the driver's door) and once you have linked your phone to the deck, you're good to go. The volume on the deck will automatically mute when an incoming call is received, you answer the call, and when you're done the music comes back on. I have an Ericson BT headset right now, it has been OK. I got the extended swap it warranty from FS, and this is the second one so far. There seems to be a couple of glitches with the volume controls in the headset, it would drop to nothing when I hung up a call by using the button on the headset instead of the one on the phone itself and when I tried to make another call the volume would be so low I couldn't hear anything without dialing it back up again....

I have heard the Motorola headsets are a little better, but since the technology is still relatively new, I would expect to have small problems like that for a year or two, no matter which unit you get.

I drive for a living, and think the BT idea is a great thing to have when you're driving....the idea of using the deck as the phone sounds cool, but if you already have a wireless headset, how much do you really need the same function in the deck??...:dunno:
