Define "better"

If you want maximum bass, up to ~600watts, and box size is no concern, then the 15" wins.

for the rms gain the type x has would it make up for the bass? because space is an issue thats why i am considering to trade it for a 10" type x

1. A T1 with 600w is barely tickling it. Im pretty sure that sub has a 3" VC, put 1000w on it and it'll pound.
2. A type x 10 might sound cleaner since its more "sq" but id bet a type R 10 is louder. They're amazing subs even though I dislike them...lol.
Quality or quantity
Ported or sealed
double the power= 3db
double the cone area= 3db
Pick your poison....

If you want to save space, get the 10 and seal it.
If you want the bass, keep the 15.
You could always do a shallow mount type r 12 to gain some space without loosing a ton of output.

Any 10" will have to have a LOT of well controlled mechanical travel in order to output as much bass as a 15", due to sheer cone area. Have you considered something more "boutique" than Alpine for a 10", such as DC, Fi, Audioque or DD? A DC XL or DD 3510 would LAUGH at 1000W rms, and have a -TON of output in a good box. I was impressed with my RF P3 12", but I'm astonished at my DD 2512 and its not even broken in yet.
Food for thought?
