So the KAPPA 62.7I would be a good upgrade from both? I will eventually try to amp them!

They should not blow at 18Watts
True if its a clean 18watts but really distorted it could, distortion is usualy what gets speakers. I'm an alpine fan myself but there isn't much selection this far north.

If these are good I might try to use my Alpine MRV-T320 amp to power them. Is it a good match, or too much?

110w x 2
@14.4 volts
(2 ohms)
----------
80w x 2
@14.4 volts
(4 ohms)

Will that work?

Ya that would be a perfect match. That amp does 110x2@2ohms and those speakers are 2 ohms and they handle 75watts RMS but you will run the crossover a bit and you will never have them cranked and everything would have to be perfect including 14.4 volts to that amp in order to put out full power. So yes a very nice match. The Kappa's are really nice to.

I have the kappa 60.7, 2 ohm components that are rated for 90 watts rms as a system. I am running the mids alone with a RF 4004 at 2ohms which give them 111 watts each. No problems with power handling, and they sound damn good. initially I was a little worried about running my mid/high speaks at 2ohms, but I'm not anymore. The extra power really brings these speaks to life. So don't worry about your amp being too powerful, it's just right.

Thumbs up Kaption vs Alpine

Just wanted to throw my .02 in. I have a full Kaption Audio system. Which includes Kaption Audio's 6.5" Multi-points. Let me tell you that these speakers are the clearest i've ever heard. If your lookin for great sound these won't you down.

Ok, I took apart the door and found that the tweeter was still working, but the woofer was very hard to move (by hand). Then I dropped it and the woofer will not move at all now. There does look to have been some moisture near the speaker at some point as my MDF baffle is coloured slightly.

What do you guys use to protect the speaker? I have seen half-moon shaped plastic pieces that go over speakers in other cars, but where do you find them?
