Alpine Type X Question

Hey guys just have a few quick questions.

First when it comes to the Alpine Type X subs, Ive heard that they are able to be pushed to 1500 wrms in the right box. Is this true, or is this just an exaggeration?

Also in terms of enclosures. I have a bassworx ported enclosure for the sub, is there any other type of enclosures that would amplify the bass more efficiently? ( I will be listening to mostly rap, reggae, drum and bass) Im looking for a box that will deliver a hard hitting pulsing type of bass.

Also Im pretty much a noob when it comes to car audio. So could anyone reccomend me a good amp that would power these subs. As of now Im more budget conscious than before, so anything within a lower price bracket would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Markus

i have owned a type x, and you arent going to gain much by pushing 1500rms into those sub. a clean 1000 in a proper enclosure will do just fine.

i'd recommend just matching it up with alpine amp made for it!
the mrp-m1000. its 1000rms, and built for that sub....you can find them $300 including shipping brand new online.

if you have the money though, get a proper ported enclosure custom made to your liking and the specific sub...instead of a generic store made one. ...enclosure will quite possibly make more of a difference than anything.

Thanks for the help I appreciate it. What does a quality ported enclosure usually go for?

Or we talking pre fab or custom? Custom is always better, shops will charge anywhere from 300-1000 depending on design. I build my boxes for myself for about 100 bucks in material right down to the fiberglass and carpet.

it is a 1000 watt sub, if you put 1500 watts in it you are dancing a fine line, it can be done but not if you really put 1500 watts in it for extended periods (as opposed to simply connecting it to a 1.5k amp). a sealed or ported enclosure can make a difference as well as the frequency band you send the sub.

What frequency should I be tuning the custom box for? I have a bassworx ported box and the specs from the web site I believe are 34 hz would that give me good results?

It Should be alright. But it wont be as good as a properly built enclosure for the driver.
