I've been looking for an Alpine XM tuner that will work with my CDA-7995. The maual says i need an Alpine TUA-T020XM XM satelite radio tuner module. I can't find a place to purchase a new one online. There are some on ebay but people keep driving the price up days in advance, its impossible to get a decent price on one.

Then there are the Terk XM Radio Direct Tuner + Alpine Adapter Kits that sell for 60 bucks and you get a mail in rebate for 30 bucks!!

I think i've come across others that are fairly inexpensive also, so why do the TUA-T020XM tuners sell for such a dear price? Is there something special about them? Will the Terk do the same job just as well?? TIA,

i used a terk tuner and adapter with my 9833 for over a year with no probs. the guy i sold it to is still using it.an excellent deal cosidering the proice of an alpine unit

The TUA is a Alpine made peice. When I picked mine up they had a list of $450, plus antenna. Some people are willing to pay more for the Alpine peice because people were able to "Modify" them to receive signal without paying for it. Some people say the sound quality with an Alpine peice is better then the generic Terk peice. I don't know if I'd agree with that, I'd like to hope it is beccause I paid so much for one.
I still have one of them, It's in a board at the store.
I'd say just use the terk peice and enjoy the rest of your money.

the alpine tua is a much better tunner and interfaces alot better with any alpine deck it also has an ainet input and output if you are planning to run any extra ainet devices(proccesors, aux ins, changers) like pxah701s .

you have to look at it this way terk just tries to adapt there technology to alpine where as alpine knows all the right softwear to use

the shor version if you can get a tua get one youll be happpy you did
