it depends how low your idle is.
i have my truck idling at 800 rpm when hot and the alt hardly charges at all...voltage goes down to 11.8 or so with headlights on. But as soon as I get up to 1100-1200 rpm it jumps right back up. So the idle charge really isnt much of an issue unless you're one of those who blast your system at red lights.

hmmm yea ive been thinkin of a better alt cuz on cold rainy nights n what not, ill have headlights, wipers, and heater on low.... and with my stereo the gauge will bounce real bad, and sometimes headlights dim lol..... but then again i can go n listen for like half hour without starting my car.... im just scared for when i upgrade after summer, my idea includes 2 12's ='ing 4000 watts max......

I'd worry more about your RMS rating than your max power rating.
hornet_252 ran two 2400.1 Exiles in his car on his stock battery and alternator a few months, thats 4800 watts RMS. It eventually died, but it lived for awhile.
Best bet is just to get a stock one with a good output, and put a smaller wheel on it. That will allow it to spin faster. For now anyways. I wouldnt worry about getting something with a high output until you're running alot more power.

yea i guess... i was just kinda worried cuz this is my daily and even tho if i get this new system i wont have it up all the time but ill still listen to it a lot and right now with my other accessories in the car that volt gauge really bounces with the beat.
