Amp for 2 Alpine Type S

I am getting 2 Alpine Type S (10 inch, 4 ohm) subs (already have one). I was wondering what a good amp for me would be with these subs. I am on a pretty tight budget. Thanks guys.

are they this years type s subs or older ones? i thought this years were all dual voice coil subs. If they are this years then you either have dual 4ohm or dual 2 ohm (hopefully dual 4) and you'd want 600-800w @ 1ohm.

If they're old type s subs, then i think those were closer to 200w and you'd wanted 400-500@ 2ohms (single 4ohm sub)

They should be brand new. I think that the box says 4ohm+4ohm but I'm not sure. (I wasn't supposed to see it, Christmas present ;) )

4+4ohm makes sense.

Then you generally wanna look for an amp that'll do 600-800w (lil bit of head room never hurts) @ 1ohm. In edmonton....i dunno exactly what prices are like. Surely the retail sellers on the board can hint at some prices of their equipment if you wish to go new.

I agree. More power = More control. You can always adjust gains to work with a more powerful amp, but there's no magic fix for not enough power.
