I am looking into this Sony XM-D400P5 amp, simply because its a whole lot cheaper. Now I know they are not supposed to be great amps, especially after all the negatives I read about it. But really, how much difference is there when compared to a JBL 300.1 or an Alpine M350, or even a rockford 301m?
Will the SQ be noticeable? I'd rather have a better sounding system then a loud one, so SPL is not a major factor here.
Can you guys give me your opinion?

I've never owned one but a review on one of their P5 amps showed it did its rated power and the other specs weren't bad either.
I've also heard of them being bumped pretty good in the Futureshop cars with no problems.

Still an entry level line and givin the amps they replaced were such garbage I wouldn't take the chance and the resale on it would be next to nothing also.
Look for something better in the For Sale forum.

ive sold quite a few, and i think they are a pretty decent amp for the bucks. Everyone has been happy with them.

I'd try looking into the Alpine M350. I've heard one and they pack quite a punch for an entry level amp. Very underrated, at 2ohm's it's pushing near 420. Just my 2 cents but I'd take it for the price.
