Which amp is best?

I have a 1200 watt JBL sub, can any buddy please recommend me that Sony Xplod 800W 2-Channel Amplifier (XMZR1252) or Sony 4-Channel 600-Watt Xplod Amplifier, XMZR604R is best for this sub.
Thanks

First what the model and voicecoil configuration for this sub?

If the total impedance for the sub is 4ohms then the XMZR1252 is the "best" of both.

Why only those 2 amps?

Save your money.
Xplode is garbage.
Try Audioque 1200d.
Is the sub 1200rms? or peak?

It's a JBL sub man, 1200watts peak. Probably 300wattsrms on a good day. It's all BB stuff isn't it? Save your money skip the sony amp and get just about anything else. Pioneer,Infinity,Rockford fosgate, exile, should all be in your price range.

You will need a mono block amp, DO NOT USE A 2 OR 4 CHANNEL AMP. 2 and 4 channel amps are made for mids and should not be used for subs(the amps make power in very different ways) besides you have a DVC sub and if you bridge a 2 or 4 channel amp you will drop the impedance to low and damage something.

i think any amp will be good as long as it's a JL.

Its too bad you didn't have a subwoofer that was a dual 4 ohm voice coil configuration, instead of dual 2 ohm. You're going to want an amp that does 300-400W for that sub. If the sub could be wired for a 2 ohm load, you could find a smaller amp that does 300W @ 2ohm. But since you're looking at a 4 ohm load, you're going to have to fork out more money on an amp that capable of that much output on a higher resistance.

http://www.pioneerelectronics.ca/POCEN/Products/Car+Audio+Video/Amplifiers/GM+Series/GM-5400T <<< Link to the amp I'd suggest... But you won't get the power you'd need to get the most out of your sub.

You could always get this amp. It does 600W x 1 @ 2 ohm. You'd also have to buy a 2nd sub, identical to the one you have. Each sub would then get 300W. It'd be a nice match.

Has anyone ever accused you of being an instigator??

Mike007, because you have a dual 2ohm voice coil driver, you can go one of 2 ways....either find a mono Class D amp that produces 3-500W @ 1ohm and wire the VCs in parallel, or get an A/B 2 channel amp rated @ 75-100W per channel, wire the VCs in series and bridge the amp to run the driver at the correct load.

Of the 2 amps you asked about, the XMZR1252 is a better choice for your driver....having said that, it is not a great amp for sub(s) and may leave you wishing you had saved a little more $$ for a better one.

Even if you decide to get the Sony amp, make sure you get a proper enclosure....it will play a bigger role in delivering good sound than the amp will.
