Amp Blows Fuses PLEASE HELP
Hey everyone I have a Alpine amp in my 00 Sunfire, and it's a great amp. It's worked for many years. Just recently it has heating up and blowing fuses. I think 15 or 20amp fuse. I added another ground wire directly to the unibody and it lasts a little longer but still blows fuses. WHAT DO I DO?

I'm running a Alpine MRV-T502 4 channel bridged on a 12" kicker solo X.

Please tell me this isn't an amp from the late 90's - (89-90) to be specific!?????????

It is, and I know it's badly under powering the sub. That's all I got. And I don't beat on it.

Perhaps your sub is wired for a 2ohm load... 1ohm? This would cause the amp to overheat and blow fuses.
|
No, it's wired in series on a Dual 2ohm which = 4ohm. It's weird because it's been fine for so long, and now it's just recently starting to act up.

Sounds like you're overloading the amp and it's finally started to die out. It's like anything else, you push it for so long and it will eventually give out.
