AMP Ground to Battery?
i got grounds going from battery straight to amps, from battery to the frame of the car and from frame of the car to the amps as well as from battery to battery.
what u want to do is totally fine but makesure you have a fuse on the power cable. Yes there is a benefit, much better ground.

if you measure the resistance of th ewire and the resistance of the ground point on the car would it not be better to take the one with the less resistance. Isn't there less chance of noise being induced when its wired directly to the battery.

You run a better chance of inducing noise NOT running a ground to the battery.
I still can't beleive people resist the temptation to wire their cars properly.
Power and ground from the alternator to the battery, power and ground to the amplifier from the battery.
Current needs to travel in a complete loop, why risk it??
People constantly forget that the chassis is already being used for all the stock electrical parts. The fans, computers, lights and so forth. leave them alone and add what you need where you need it.
