Amp life

Hey, I was wondering how long an amp should last for. I know it really depends but lets give a few examples.
An amp that is used for competitions and is really put to it's limits would last for?
An amp that is just used daily but driven to get all of it's power would last?
An amp that is used for some competing and some daily would last?
I am just look for generalizations here. I mean if it is 11.4 months to 13.5 you can just say 1 year.
I am asking because I am thinking about buying some used amps and just want to know if they will break shortly after I get them if they have been used for a while.
Thanks

Well like you said it is totally in the application. For example i have four mtx 1501d's they were used in a spl vehicle loaded to one ohm (below their reconmended load) and fed 14.4 volts and they are still going strong. That's been a 8 months used twice weekly.
As for daily i have my original daily amp which is a mtx 81000d. I had two but sold one both were ran at 2 ohms at about three quarters gain with a stock electrical system. Both amps are still kickin now three years total. Same as my mtx thunder 6304 4 channel.
However all is not good in audio land. I had an alpine mrv t-500 running two twelves at four ohm mono and it crapped out after 6 months. It melted fuses and all. Also had a kenwood kac-729s crap out on me running a single twelve after a year.
It's all user application, by the way the alpine and kenwood were second hand. Everything i've bought myself that i have been the original owner has been good to me

Just like a car, you can't really put a lifespan on an amp. One car might break down after 50 km, another might go 100 000 as long as it is not abused. Also depends on the company and the build quality. I have on amp that I bought used 6 years ago without a hitch, and another I bought popped on the first day.

Does anyone know if American Bass makes good amps? I have had 2 break on me within a month or so each. I am pretty sure the reason is because the amps don't have undervoltage protection (which i found out after i broke 2) and my alt is only 55 amps. I can see huge dimming etc and I'm pretty sure the voltage dipped down to around 10 volts for a decent sized bass note.
I have an opportunity to get a few more of these amps for cheap, and they are just what I need. The amps are used and I just don't want to have them break on me again. This time I will have a 200 amp alternator to power the amps.
Any opinions?
Thanks

what were you running your 1501's on, and why did you run them into 1ohm instead of the recommended 2ohm?
just interested as I own one also?

The Phoenix Gold M25's in the wife's car have to be at least 10 years old... and she's an animal. Had an old sa1.0 before that and I know it's still going strong too. My Rockford Power 50.1 and 50.2 have been beat on daily for 6 years too.
