Which amp? MTX or Alpine?

Im buying a new amp, but Im not sure which one I should get.... the MTX is more powerful, but pulls a hell of alot of current. The Alpine I can get from a local dealer for just a little more than the MTX, but doesnt put out as much power. It does however come with the manufacturers warranty. The MTX amp I am looking at is being sold by someone that claims "unopened and never used". I used to sell MTX, and this amp is quite alot of money, as apposed to the $450 the guy is asking. The amp I choose will be running 2 MTX Single voice coil 7500 series 12" subs wired to 2 ohm. Each sub has a power handling of 500 watts rms, so Im looking to put 1000 watts rms into the two of them. Any comments or recommendations?

I was just wondering what MTX amp your talking about? I used to sell for MTX as well. I'm using the 1501d which is a power hungry amp.. but great output as well, espesially at 2 ohm. The only way I would use the Alpine amp is its the V12 series.

Well, the MTX amp is the TA81001, which I had the same model in my car about 6 months ago running 1 9500 series 12s. It pulled so much juice it fried my alternator, so I down graded to a 7801, which is now in my fiancees Civic (i know, im too nice). The Alpine amp is the MRD-M1005, which I believe is in the V12 series.

I'm not sure about the MTX, but i've heard nothing but good things about the MRD1005 or the v12 lineup.

MTX TA81001 over the MRD1001 easily. IMO the MTX is a better quality amplifier and it has plenty of headroom for your setup.
