Amp problem

Hey, ive got a problem where my amps will suddenly, usually both at once, shut off completly, and then turn back on for a duration of anywhere betweeen half a second and a minute. Ihave a 2001 ranger singlecab. one amp is only powering my fronts, clarion apx4240, and my spl fx420 is powering my clarion PFW1051. I checked the ground, its bolted tightly to a paintfree part of the body. All the connectors are secure, and nothing seems loose. It was all professionally installed within the last 3 months, but i dont want to wait for shops to screw around again. Any ideas on what i can do?

If they both are shutting down simultaneously then you should check the remote line. Hopefully they soldered it to the radio and joining wires to the amps. If it was professionally installed it should come with a guarantee that the work is free of charge(especially 3 months ago) unless it has been altered by the owner.

Run these test:

1 Check fuse under the hood. The fuse may have broke. If you can swap it out for a new one!

2 Run your system while the car is not moving. Turn the volume to a low just audible enough. Wiggle the remote wire(s) connected to the amp(usually it's blue) - If that shuts off the amp then make sure the wire is re-connected properly.

3 If you can pull the deck out check the remote wire back there.

Take it back and ask them..

THat first info woulda helped me, adn that second info helped me more. The fuse was loose somehow by the battery, and it was arcing to the holder. But then my amp blew later today, so i took it back and they replaced it free of charge, and i ran another wire from the battery instead of a distribution block.

So all is good in the hood. Thanks.
