Id say a 100amp alt and a decent battery would be the bare minimum for that amp... multiple batteries will stabilize voltage and provide longer key off listening but I dont think you will necassarily need four... 150+ amp alt would probably be a good idea..

At any rate, I doubt that it was a lack of power that caused you to blow those subs...

Edit: if its a comp vehicle multiple batteries may be a good idea.... check out the exide orbital batteries at canadian tire...

Mat - you're going to want a decent sized electrical system to let that monster make full power.
If it's a daily driver that you wan tto be loud on th estreet also then look into a nice sized alt.
As Dave stated, that amp will pull 300a+ at full tilt. More if you plan on burping it at .35ohm where it makes big power (only for comps though).
If you're going to run extra batts (recommended) you're going to need the alt to charge them so get the biggest you can afford.

For batts you don't have to go with Yellowtops. Motomaster spiralgrids and Orbital XCD's are excellent lower price alternatives that work just as well.
You can even use Walmart batts but remember that a deep cycle batt will be a better choice if you plan on running the battery down.
