ok, i just bought an orion 2500d, its nice, and all i have been hearing from peopel is its a monster, well recently i fried 4 subs(sony explode, visonik, pioneer, kenwood) i was talking tpo someone and they were saying its because im not getting enuf power to the actual amp, and they also said that they would recomend 2 batterys for every power terminal of the amp(4 batterys)... i told him i will be upgrading my alternator to a 180 amp at idle 250 amp max very soon, and he still said that i still need 4 batteries....wat i am wondering is do i actually need 4 batteries, and if yes, do they have to be yellowtops, and if i am going to have to do this, where can i get more one gauge from and rouphly how much is it?....thanx in advanced

ok, so a 250 amp alternator and 4 batteries would be decent for a comp vehicle, i may be leaning towards something along those linbes, but does it need to be 4 yellowtops?...thats like 600 bux in batteries if i get a deal, will anything else work?, i can sorta get a deal on normal batteries/industrial ones, but the yellowtops are still pricey...thnx

Id say a 100amp alt and a decent battery would be the bare minimum for that amp... multiple batteries will stabilize voltage and provide longer key off listening but I dont think you will necassarily need four... 150+ amp alt would probably be a good idea..
At any rate, I doubt that it was a lack of power that caused you to blow those subs...
Edit: if its a comp vehicle multiple batteries may be a good idea.... check out the exide orbital batteries at canadian tire...

Mat - you're going to want a decent sized electrical system to let that monster make full power.
If it's a daily driver that you wan tto be loud on th estreet also then look into a nice sized alt.
As Dave stated, that amp will pull 300a+ at full tilt. More if you plan on burping it at .35ohm where it makes big power (only for comps though).
If you're going to run extra batts (recommended) you're going to need the alt to charge them so get the biggest you can afford.
For batts you don't have to go with Yellowtops. Motomaster spiralgrids and Orbital XCD's are excellent lower price alternatives that work just as well.
You can even use Walmart batts but remember that a deep cycle batt will be a better choice if you plan on running the battery down.

thanx a lot guys, and to "aneonrider", if u were refering to me as the nut turning the gain up, yes i diod try to make them louder but i havnt yet had the gain over like 1/8th up yet, i will be turning that up however wen i get the electrical system sorted out and some subs that will actually handle turning it up, but the nut coment was actually kind of funney, i lauphed cuz everyone of my freinds/family members calls me a nut for shaking the house, so that was good...
