Amp settings
I just installed a sub in my car and im confused about how to set the amplifier settings.
I've read somewhere that the bass boost setting is optional, and you shouldn't have to use it, but with my setup I get absolutely nothing out of the sub, unless bass boost is on. It has to be at least at about 1/3 for me to actually notice the sub :-/. I've tried adjusting the gain, it has no effect unless bass boost is on.
That wouldn't be a big deal, but the bass boost is very inconsistent...Some sounds are excessively loud, and some are normal volume. If i put the bass boost at about 1/8, and i'm sitting beside the thing, the bass is consistent and sounds normal with no abnormal volumes...but when it's that low i can't hear it in the drivers seat....
How can i make it sound good, with normal volume levels?

where is the gain set? i think you need to turn the gain up. Where is it crossed at? is the ssf on? what head unit are you using or how many volts does it put out?? Personally again i think you need to turn the gain up.

Make sure RCAs are plugged in to sub preout on deck and sub volume is turned up. Bass boost is centered at a certain frequency so turning it up will only affect a certain freq. range around that point. Make sure you're using LPF on the amp and start with it set around 100hz. Turn on HPF to speakers if there's one in the deck menu. Make sure LPF in deck is set accordingly or off. Turn up deck volume until you get into distortion from speakers and then down slightly. Turn up gain on amp until sub distorts and then down slightly. you should be good to go. As long as sub load on amp is proper. If your running an 8 ohm load on a 1 ohm stable amp yer not gonna get much power period.
