New to the forum, and really don't know much about car audio at all. I have a 2001 Civic coupe SI and I need it to be loud, obviously haha. So, could I grab some suggestions from you guys? I need a sub, I'm thinking 12".. an amp, and an enclosure. Price range for sub around $100-200 and for an amp around $170.

I got a quote for this - "JL Audio 12W0V2-4 in JL's custom basswedge box. Teamed up with a Alpine MRPM500 amplifier, you have the whole package.

Price wise, you are looking at a total of $550.00 plus taxes.

This includes the subwoofer, the box, 8 gauge wiring kit, and full install which is warrantied for life."

Thoughts or opinions on that?

That seems like a decent deal. Especially including install. I'm not sure of the quality and output you're goin for, but a decent entry level system. Prob not the best amp kit, but it'll get the job done.

Have you visited all your local shops and listened to their budget minded setups? I'd suggest look everywhere u can to gather quotes/info. Can't hurt.

 

I have not. Mostly because I haven't heard of shops in my city specializing in car audio so I've been dealing with a shop out of town through facebook. I'll do a bit more research locally.

 

Within that price range, wheat was quoted to you looks good. I agree with Mr.DatSubishi though re: the amp. Maybe you could ask whoever quoted you if they could replace that Alpine amp with a JL one to match the sub. JL makes good quality amps as well as subs.

Cool, cool. I've been reading up on those and really haven't seen/heard anything bad about them. So if I was going to go with the 2 12" DCON's - get whatever cheap box, a KnuKonceptz wire kit, and which amp? Should I stick to JL or Alpine?
