I have a kicker 600.4 amp. I want to run 6x9 for rear and 4x6 for front to one side of the amp. I won't have Fr/Rr fade but that is Ok. This should run at 2 ohms right? Here's my problem. For the other side of the amp, I want to run a kicker S8L5 sub bridged. The amp manual says minimum 4ohm with bridged operation. So do I need a 2 or 4 ohm voice coil sub and how do I wire it; series or parallel?

Thanks in advance

What is the impedence of your sub, dual 4 ohm or dual 2 ohm? In either case it would be best to series wire it to a 8 ohm load (dual 4 ohm version) or a 4 ohm load (dual 2 ohm version). Have you bought the sub yet?

I have not bought the sub yet, so I can get whichever. The dual coil is what confuses me.

If your going for this sub, but the dual 2 ohm version and wire it in series for a 4 ohm load to the amp. If you are going to be using a different amp down the road, it is still a safe bet.

The reason I chose this sub is because it has alot of punch for its size. I need a shallow sub because it is going in a 1/2 ton regular cab. I only have 300w RMS power from my amp. Does anyone know of any good subs for this setup other than the kicker S8L5?

There are lots of other subs that can do this, Lightning Audio S3.10.4 is a great sounding inexpensive sealed box sub. Panelt Audio Neo series subs also are a great sub in either a sealed box or ported (Dukk approved) enclosure. This sub has a mounting depth of under 4", handles about 250w rms and has a 5 year warranty when bought from an authorized dealer. I'm sure that alot of the other dealers on the forum can recommend subs as well. What kind of box were you going to build for that Kicker, sealed or ported?

I am going to run a sealed box.

try the blaupunkt overdrive subs, they're super shallow, and are supposed to be very good sounding. other than that, I'd say the planet audio NEO series subs are your best bet for a shallow, nice sounding sub.
