I was exactly in the same position as you 2 months ago,

looked for canadian sites, no luck on finding any that sold alpine. So I went down to Shamus Customz on bank street (www.shamuscustomz.com). Turns out shamus is a good guy and very helpful. I bought everything from him except my sub.

higher prices then what you usually would pay but consider the UPS charges if you bought on ebay. Plus you are supporting the local shops.

Well I tried Derand 2 times. Each time I found the people very deceptive and seems like they work on commision or something because I felt pressured into buying their stuff. One of the things they tried to do with me is when I asked about the RMS of an amp they gave me the maximum power of the amp which in some manufacturers cases is incorrect.

I heard Pearl or Perl from a friend was a sketchy place also.

Shamus was the second place I tried, very down to earth group, no pressure and answered all my newb questions. You are just going to pay a bit more, but it is totally worth it.

I just placed an order for an Alpine deck from onlinecarstereo.com. Got here within 7 business days, but I got hit with a $97 duty charge. It still came out to about 100 less than the MSRP on the Alpine site. Not sure what shops in Ottawa sell Alpine these days

Mechanical Engineering? I'm in Electrical at Algonquin as well.
I'm also relavitely new to this site. I don't post a whole lot at all, but I read pretty well everything.

If you want noob questions awnsered, forum.soundpressure.org is where i go..Jordy is on there too. They also know a fair bit. That's the DD forum.

As for your deck, I know a guy who works at both FS and CT, so I'll talk to them and see if i can get a discount...I don't know him very well so we'll see how it goes, and I will get back to you.
