Any one have experience with Eclipse DSP units
 

Hey guys I was thinking of trying to run a active Xover set-up with my old stuff here but its pretty hard to get info on the older stuff. I have a Eclipse 8061hu that can control their 39011/2301 DSPs according to the manual and I see them come up for sale frequently enough so.... are they any good for xovers? The HU doesnt allow me to change xover points with out the DSP so to run a active set-up do I not need to add a processor? Will this HU control a newer processor (not listed in the manual) that I can buy new? Whats your take on these units? Thanks

It was a great cd player but the processor was really weak IMO. You would be better off adding a Audio Control digital processor as compared to using the old Eclipse processor. It will not operate any other dsp unit except for the ones listed.

Thanks for the info Rob, is the AC unit you refer to easy to set up? I mean for a un-techie geezer like me

As with any new item, it is going to have a learning curve. The flexibility offered by the AC units is really really outstanding. Same with the built in flexibility in the new Eclipse head units.
