I was wondering if anyone knows a store that's clearing out the eclipse 8443 for a really low price. I read a post on Elitecaraudio talking about getting a 8443 for $270 (US) shipped! I'm tempted to see if I could get them to ship it here and just pay a bit more for shipping, but it would be alot easier if there was a place in Canada selling them cheap.

Coupled with the fact that you get nailed gst and brokerage fees at the border + no warranty from Eclipse Canada + no replacement guarantee in the first year. Buy it locally and support the guys that need your business. Eclipse cd players are not available on line in the US or Canada as it is a violation of our strict dealer agreements. Anyone can claim to sell something, but when it comes to delivery you will usually find item ships in x number of days, wonder why?

I would love to support my local dealer, but the only company I know of that carries eclipse in Winnipeg is A&B sound. The just started dealing with eclipse and I don't think they even have the 8443. The best eclipse deck they have on display is some of there really low end stuff. Their prices are really bad for what they have also, not to mention that I don't like dealing with the big corporations like that.

I wasn't really looking for a deck either, but if I was to get a new one, it would probably be the 8443. For the price they were selling for in the states, it made me consider it. With the current exchange, it would be about 370 Candadian without extra shipping, brokerage etc. That's why I was wondering if anyone was selling them cheap in canada...like 450 or so. I'll probably just keep my current deck (sony c910), but if I found a 8443 for cheap I would have considered it.

Also wanted to mention that this wasn't an internet site, just a guy mentioning what his local shop was currently selling them at.

I really wasn't trying to get any dealers in trouble with their prices, just wondering if there were any amazing deals right now like there are in the states. I know there are many more dealers in the states than in Canada and some may be selling them for very cheap prices while others are not.

Here's the distributor number. Maybe they can help?

Canada 905 426 8088

I have another thread on this as well. Some info on a dealer or two there.

As for the whole 'buy from a local dealer and support' thing, I agree to an extent, but I for one will not pay twice the price for something just to support the local economy or business. I have to worry about my economy too Sometimes dealers charge ridiculous prices trying to make 40% margin and then complain that people buy online and not from them, I find that hilarious. However, I am amazed at some of the prices I have seen in Canada on car audio lately, very good prices.

I will buy locally if and only if:

1) The price is reasonable, and not twice as much as I'd pay online. No warranty is worth that.
2) If the dealer is genuinely helpful and knows the products, and helps me make a decision. In the GTA I have found this to be the case, great dealers around here. I have inquired with a few places on ARC amps, and everyone has been very helpful.

Example, I just bought a set of Focal K2P's from a dealer in Toronto, Number 1 Sound I think, on College. Not only did they really know their stuff, but they genuinely wanted to help me and when I wanted to demo the speakers, they gave me a few Focal CD's, showed me how to use the CD player (didn't need it, but a nice touch ) and said turn it up if you want, have fun. When I had a question, they would help me and answer. In this case, I was happy to pay more than the eBay price because the dealer was helpful and they gave me a good deal. They let me stay after hours, the lady who works there bought me a pop, it was a GREAT experience. For any more Focal needs, I am going to them, and they also sell home stuff so I will be banging on their door again at some point.

They also deal AVI by the way. That is also an amazing speaker from what I heard, and very reasonable on price.

Wow, I just kept going, didn't I? But that is an example of what I mean by good service (actually, that was unusually good). For that sort of experience, I will support the local economy.

Enough of my rant.

I am a local dealer of Eclipse. The quote above about hoping to pick a CD8443 up for $450.00 CDN from a local dealer could only happen in a few circumstances.
(1) dealer is going out of business and is liquidating stock
(2) unit has been fixed more times than they can count and they want to unload it.
This is due to the fact that $450.00 is way below Canadian dealer cost. I as a dealer have to buy from the Canadian distributor, who buys it from Eclipse. Want to bitch about the pricing in Canada, don't complain to the dealer, we all pay the same for it. Don't complain to the distributor as they are operating a business and a business is designed to earn money. Bitch to Eclipse for not selling direct to the dealer in Canada, which is something that they do in the USA. I will do whatever I can for a customer, service them to death if I must, but I too must earn a living just like the others out there. I happen to believe that the playing field is uneven in Canada vs the US for pricing, but at least in Canada the playing field is level among all authorized dealers.

No complaining here, I am getting my 8454 from a dealer in Canada for sure...

It is uneven in Canada no doubt, but it's better now. It used to be atrocious.

What I said applied to dealers who DONT go out of their way and who DONT do what they can. I go to any dealer who's willing to go that extra mile.

If you're an Eclipse dealer, what does the 8454 go for? I want one.

Some things are better not being asked on an open forum, while I may be a dealer of many lines, the guidelines of the site should come first for both myself as a dealer (or any other dealer for that matter)and any prospective customer of a dealer.

It's only uneven if you don't consider the benefits of buying in Canada from a dealer. Service and Warranty are a couple of things that make the products cheaper when you buy them off a truck in the states.

I just put the 8443 in my car. Goodluck finding a dealer in Canada that will sell it to you for under $600. I did, but I have been dealing with the company for 6 years and counting.

And don't forget.. you must buy the deck in Canada from an authorized dealer and also pay them to install it in order for your full warranty to be covered.

It sucks that Canadian dealers can't buy direct, but what can you do.

I have heard the eclipse products and they appear to be worth every dime of the retail price. I would smile and pay the nice man.

Remember the tax man's day is every day!
