....heard of a person running a 5 way front stage?
Yup...Bass driver in the door, kickpod w/midbass/mid/tweet and second set of tweets x'd-over higher in the A-pillar.
not in car audio.......a big waste of time, money and effort
I have heard a 4 way set up |
heard a few 4 way.. and I have enough channels to do it myself... just undecided
A friend once told me that a buddy of his had pairs of 1,3,4,5.25,6.5 and 8" in the front of his car... my friend liked it -- I did not hear it.
well there was a car< I won't name what it was, it had a ton of speakers in it, I "think" a set of 6" utopias 2 sets of 5 1/4 utopias and a set of 6" midbass, all in the front.
If you sit in this car you will understand that more is not better. |
mike, did you have to?
If I was setting up a front end like that I would group the kick tweet, mid & woofer close together on one baffle and run it from 80- Hz to 6-7 K to start, then add the second set of tweets up in the A-pillars running above 6000 Hz or higher. Mid and Woof would have their own enclosures.
Last, I would put a large set of midbasses in the doors natural roll off on the low end and run them up to 70-80 Hz with a steep slope, and see how that sounds....might sound like craaap but I think it would have a chance of sounding allright. |
