I realize, and apologize profusely. I just really want to figure this out and figured posting here would get more traffic. you can delete the one in the installation section if you want.

I probably should have added some more info, but I was trying to pretend like I didn't double post lol. The steering wheel controls are stock, but I have an aftermarket deck installed. I know the down button works because every time I take my car in to get fixed it starts working continuously for a few days, and when my battery died it worked for a few hours. The next song and higher volume buttons work too, just sometimes not the lower volume and the previous song button hardly ever works. I don't know what could be wrong.

edit: the deck is an alpine IVA-W505 if that helps.

I got it installed at advance here in winnipeg. I figured it was something to do with programming, and have brought it in a few times to get re-programmed, which is when it works for a few days. I don't see how it could be the modual though since it's only the down buttons that have issues

I figure it must be the deck since this didn't start happening until I got the deck installed. is there any simple way to replace it? i'm pretty new to this and don't feel like taking it in again.

Get the installer to put a new one in, trust me you do not want to do this yourself. Seriously.
