Apple ipad for auto use
At 499.00, this may be the answer to car pc in a compact easy to use package that's easy to install with it's thin frame and relatively small size. It has wi-fi, cellular, blue tooth, a large screen, and lot's of memory. The only thing that's needed is a cd/tuner with a digital input that doesn't defeat the ipad's controls to interface with your amps. Comments...thoughts???

Yeah, that's definitely going to be an issue! they might even make it illegal to have one open and in use by anyone in the car, just because it's so portable that if a cop pulls you over you can just give it to a passenger.

Here is what BC law states regarding all hand held types of devices. I would expect your province and many other provinces have similar laws in effect or will shortly.

This article points out flaws that make this device useless when comparing it to a netbook or anything other then an iphone (Ipad was meant to compete with netbooks)
8 Things That Suck About the iPad - apple ipad - Gizmodo
After reading what MR2NR posted about BC laws; As long as you can use the Ipad with voice commands it should be legal.
The problem (as with every Ipod/phone/apple product) is the lack of multitasking and applications.
Even though the app store has the most applications they have to be apple approved. Without multitasking means if the voice recognition isn't up to par you can't simply download an other program to do a better job because its going to be either running one program other the other. it also has to be apple approved and we all know how much apple loves when you try to enable features or improve them. (READ: they don't make it to the app store)
