Okay so this morning I was in line at MacD's getting some breakfast, and I turned my stereo off to order and then when I went to turn it back up all I can hear is this buzzing noise and NO music at all... So as I am driving the noise gets louder with acceleration but still no music... Argh... I have no idea why its doing this... :( Anyone have any ideas of what I can check??? I just re did my install is this maybe caused by wires touching or something as there is a mess of wires behind my seats now...

DAAAAAMN is it cold outside.... I think I found the problem... My remote turn on leads I have 1 going in from the head unit and 3 squeezed into 1 butt connector going out... I wiggled it a little bit and the wires just fell out... LOL so Im guess I need to buy a bigger butt connector... Is there something else I can use to split the remote turn on wire so that I can use 1 in and 3 out?? Im assuming a 4 gauge terminal wont work eh?? LOL!!

You should be soldering all your connections.

You should be using a relay to switch on three devices...

Engine noise could be also from gains set too high in addition to remote turn-on connections.

In my previous setups, the amp was what was most sensitive to picking up junk, and it was the gain pot that did it.

I'll agree with Dave, use a relay. Many decks have limited remote power, and it's not good to hook up more than 2 devices to the lead. It's also relative to the devices; ie, each amp, whether brand or model, requires different amounts of turn on power to stay on.

Thanks guys!! [img]smile.gif[/img] I am actually terrible at soldering so I have been usig butt connectors for almost everything... :( I guess in the spring I will have to get one of my buddies to solder everything up for me... What is a relay and where can I buy one?? Does anyone have a picture??

i'm a fan of twisting the wires together then taping them. its hard to explain, but i haven't had any problems. i strip about an inch of wire, then split the wires of both pieces, then twist them together. tape them up, you can even put a ziptie on it to keep it there. if you suck at soldering give that a shot. they say there is less resistance this way as opposed to using a connecter, or solder. they aren't always right, but this works for me when the soldering gun isn't around.

lol okay I feel like such a idiot... I pulled the head unit, re wired the remote leads and still nothing... hooked the head unit back up and it turns out while in line in mac d's i must have put the speakers to play only the rears and this amp needs 2 rcas from and rear so I dont get anything when I put them on strictly rear speakers... LOL I did all of that work for nothing in -25 weather... [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img]

Kinda off topic but shouldn't you not have any engine noise period, no matter how high the gains are turned up?
