Audio Noob

Well First off, I'm 17 and I drive a 98 Acura Integra RS, I'm looking into getting some audio gear for her, but truthfully I know nothing about audio gear,

I don't even know what I need, what the prices are, what brands are good hahaha
Any noob beginner info would be appreciated,

Go to as many car audio places locally as possible and listen to different brands and get prices. Thats your best start. :)

What do I need?

- A New Deck ( Any suggestions, keep in mind I'm young and work part - time )
- AMP
- Subs
- Wiring

Is that all?

yes you need deck .amp wiring..if your replacing your fronts.you need an amp for them as well..or one two channel amp..which the size of it, will depend on the rms of your fronts and sub together.it'get's pricey fast .i suggest buying used ..look through the classifieds here...

Can't go wrong with TFone subs pretty cheap for what you get although I have not tried them my self I have read nothing but good things about them. Just and option for subs ;)

It's a start......:smokin:

First thing you need to do is determine your goals for the system and a budget, especially if you are only working part time. I am assuming you have heard a few cars around where you live and want to do something similar in yours......:D

A ball park price for the things you have listed ranges from $500 and up, depending on whether you buy new or used and how much of the install you can do yourself. This hobby can get very expensive very quickly, so the easiest way to save money is to educate yourself as much as possible before you start buying equipment so you don't buy the wrong things.

If you are only interested in a "bass machine" you will only need to buy 1 amp, 1 or 2 subs with a box, power wire and a way of getting a signal to drive the amp from the factory Head Unit.

A more balanced sound requires better speakers for the fronts (at least), an amp to drive them, as well as the equipment mentioned above.

This thread is an excellent starting point for you.....the information on the links will give you a lot of technical information about the basics of a car audio system, which will make it easier for you to ask better questions here about how to apply that knowledge.

If you are not really all that interested in getting that far in to the hobby, you will need to go to every car audio shop around you for a chance to listen to what is available in your area and then start comparing to determine who has the best deal for you.

There is a lot more to this than I can cover in 1 post.....just keep in mind it's supposed to be fun, if you find yourself getting too stressed out by the process just take a break, maybe do some more reading and get back into it......:smilie_da

Welcome to the board....:smilie_da

They are right. First, have a figure on how much you are willing to spend for it. Try to read on each product ratings first. So you can narrow down your choices. Finally, audition. Coz different peeps, different perspectives. It not others who will listen to your audio but you. Hope this helps.

the buy and sell here, I found some interesting things,

I found a Sony Xplode Deck, never used/never installed still in the box for 50$ obo
Sony Xplode 800 watt AMP for 100$ obo
1 Grafdale Sub in a sub box for 60$ obo

Any of these good deals?
I only contacted the guy with the deck so far because 50$ obo is pretty cheap for a new deck!
