looks good. was it hard getting under the dash? i want to upgrade the speakers in the future. what kind of caravan is it?
|
It's a 1996 Grand Caravan!
To get under the dash you just have to pull off the side panels that stretch halfway up the door. Then take a screw driver and apply pressure to where there are small cutouts in the panel edge with which i believe it was designed for. Then unplug the lights from the unit above the dash and your done. I had to build small brackets from the original screw holes which cant be seen in the photo. I needed to do this because the new speakers magnet was to large to fit in the small identation of the stock ones but it may be different witha 99. After changing them they made a world of difference! |
Another Caravan! :smilie_da look clean
If like me you have 6x9 in the doors I would ditch the rear 6x9 and install them in the doors here's how a 02 look (only 2 screws) http://www.audiodauto.com/forums/ind...e=post&id=2262 I used some sponge rubber tape to "seal" the gap between the speaker and the dash cover, i also put some bquiet under the cover to cancel vibration. |
I cannot see your photograph for some reason?

Ahh, i see what you did there, i wish i had a photo of mine to show you.
Just imagine a small bracket that extends from the screw hole to the ring on the speaker :D |

Now all you gotta do is build this
2.1 cubic feet @ 33.5hz CUT SHEET: Top - 28"x15" Bottom - 28"x15" Front - 25.25"x13" Back - 28"x13" L Side - 14.25"x13" R Side - 13.5"x13" Port 1 - 11.5"x13" Port 2 - 12"x13" |
Awesome, i finally found the specs for the prefab box i have, its 1.8 cubic feet tuned to 36 HZ.
Im going to get started on the box hopefully tomorrow, i have to go pick up some mdf, do you recommend 1" or 3/4". And, would it be easier to just go to Home Depot and give them the cutout list and let them go hard? |
